Staff Validation Engineer
Job Location: Andover, MA
 
DUTIES:                Responsible for chip bring-up and post silicon validation of leading edge datacom and telecom devices, carrying Ethernet, OTN, and similar legacy and emerging communications protocols/rates up to 100Gb/s and beyond. Develop validation test cases and shared library components, during the pre-silicon phase, by leveraging development environments such as verification and model based simulation, and by using programs developed for pre-existing validation and evaluation boards. Develop and implement test plans that assure product compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards. Automate tests, controlling the product under test and the related test instruments, so that the test suites can be easily applied to future releases of the same or similar product(s).  When potential defects are found, analyze the problem to pinpoint the point of failure, then accurately report findings to the product design team. Implement and test any workaround or solution proposed by the product design team. Occasionally interface directly with customers to understand and test their specific applications of products.
 
REQUIRES:          Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field and seven (7) years of experience in communications device design, verification or test.
 
Employer will accept Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field and four (4) years of experience in communications device design, verification or test as the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field and seven (7) years of experience in communications device design, verification or test.
 
Employer will also accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
 
***Position requires the following experience:
Hands-on experience with communications protocols, including 10G, 40G and 100G Ethernet, OTN, SONET/WIS, and Forward Error Correction.
Hands-on experience with use and automation of communication test equipment, including JDSU/Viavi TS-10, ONT-500, ONT-600.
Hands-on experience with general purpose electronic test/debug tools, including Oscilloscopes and Logic analyzers.
Experience with C and C++, Tcl, Perl; fluency in Python.
In lab experience troubleshooting and debugging communications hardware and software, using hardware observation and inspection, along with software code review and analysis.
Experience recording detailed results and collaborating with design teams to determine root-cause and solutions for any observed or suspected product anomalies.

Staff Software Engineer
Job Location: Santa Clara, CA
 
DUTIES:                Design the software layers, device drivers for new hardware to work seamlessly with telecom and data communication equipment used on telecom and data communication industries. Implement the device drivers, application software for the new hardware platforms. Work on improving chip performance by tuning chip configurations and software drivers. Design, develop and bring-up various software components as follow on customer evaluation kits: framer/mapper/PHY; PCIE host interface bring-up; Ethernet PCS/PMA driver development and bring-up; Ethernet IEEE 802.3ah OAM & IEEE 1588 PTP Driver development; Ethernet MAC security encryption and decryption driver development; Optimization of high speed (10/40/50/100Gbps) SERDES applications; Phase Lock Loop control; Optical Transmission Network (OTN, incl. FEC, OTU/ODU/OPU) management driver; optical module drivers for XFP/SFP, QSFP; and supporting the customers on-site and remotely; software maintenance and bug fixing. Design, develop and bring-up drivers for 3rd party devices in customer evaluation kits. Research and keep up with latest and evolving Ethernet and OTN standards produced by relevant industry organizations, current software support and new software requirements.  Requires travel 1-2 times per year in US & abroad for on-site help to support chip software.

***Position requires the following experience:
 
Experience with applications of framer/mapper/PHY and FPGA/PLL/optical module in Ethernet and OTN networks.
Experience in developing device drivers and debugging with different protocols including I2C, SPI, MDIO and GPIO to access other on-board devices including FPGA, IO expanders, MUX and clocking devices (clock generator and synthesizer)
Experience with SERDES optimization and eye monitoring
Experience in C/C++ and Perl programming.
Experience in embedding system programming using Linux and WINDOWS kernel architectures and programming, device driver development and interrupt handlers.
Experience in telecom and data-com board and chip bring up.
Experience using debugging and testing tools, including Ethernet & OTN traffic testers.
Experience with chip bring up support for world-class customers
