We are currently seeking Mechatronics Engineers to develop robotic systems that can reliably perform increasingly complex tasks in dynamic environments. Candidates will help design, integrate, test, deploy, and maintain new robotic capabilities, and help solve challenging problems in robotics, sensor processing, motion control, and motion planning on autonomous vehicles. Desired experience includes mechanical and electrical integration of sensors, actuators and mechanisms; working knowledge of software and firmware interfaces; and understanding of integrated real-time control systems. We focus on technology transfer applications, leveraging our academic ties and strong software engineering fundamentals. We are seeking people who quickly solve problems, generate big ideas, work in new technology areas, drive concepts into prototypes, and envision how prototypes transition to end user products.

Requirements

 

BS,MS,or PhD in an Engineering discipline with 6 to 9 years of post-graduate experience preferred. Candidate will need to have experience in real-time embedded system development, integration and test.
Working understanding of mechanical mechanisms and electrical systems / components is desired. Proficiency in CAD Modeling Software and modern electrical design tools (schematic capture, board layout, etc.) is desired.
Excellent knowledge and proven expertise in microprocessor architectures and designs, and proven expertise in sensor electronics, including vision systems, optics, LIDAR, DIO, AIO, etc.
Working knowledge of modern software development tools and experience in C, C++, Object Oriented Software and associated design principles. Additional knowledge of C++ 11, C++ Templates, Python, Linux and Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) is preferred.
Familiarity with motor control systems including motor types, motor drivers, actuators, control system feedback, sampling theory, and real-time control algorithms is required.
Ability to understand and complete work by taking a system point-of-view, including knowledge of laboratory test and manufacturing systems is desired.
Strong analytical skills enabling colleagues to understand and implement customer/user needs, develop designs and market requirements, collect data, draw conclusions, develop and evaluate design solutions and alternatives, and make recommendations to management is desired.
Proficiency with computer tools including Microsoft Office and MATLAB, and ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals is desired.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a small team environment. Candidates should have a strong personal drive, and above average verbal & written communications skills.
Hands-on experience with real-world robotic applications is desired.
