Job Details

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with analysis focus. Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Chelmsford designs and manufactures RF and microwave components and systems for use in missile applications and other harsh military environments. We incorporate the use of modern design tools in the relevant design disciplines of RF/microwave, analog/digital, and mechanical/thermal engineering. Also on premises are state-of-the-art electronics manufacturing facilities, and ESS test capabilities

The effort involves complex technical problems that require solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. The assignment includes the design, analysis, research, development, and testing encompassing multiple engineering disciplines; as well as including the planning and advancement of new aerospace products and technologies

Candidate shall have experience with Finite Elements Analysis in order to perform analysis, research, design, and testing in such areas as thermal, heat transfer, fluids, mechanical, structures, dynamics, shock and vibration for development or production efforts using standardized software tools. Candidate should also be familiar with shock and vibration concepts for design, testing and analysis.
The candidate will be responsible for the thermal and structural design, analysis, and testing of assembly systems, subsystems, and components. Tasks include performing preliminary and detailed analysis on assembly systems and subsystems as well as performing comprehensive modeling of the entire thermal system using standardized processes and tools. Tasks may also include providing support for testing of systems, subsystems, and components. In addition, the candidate will provide technical documentation and input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to program and customer

Day to day activities will also include but will not be limited to creating designs, design documentation and performing verification testing using current electronics packaging concepts. Preparing detailed test plans, scheduling, and performing mechanical design verification and qualification testing as well as preparing and submitting formal reports and recommendations

The Locale: Chelmsford is a charming suburb of Boston located about 25 miles northwest of that city. Chelmsford is very close to historic Lowell Massachusetts and to Nashua, New Hampshire. Chelmsford is within reach of New Hampshire’s White Mountains and awesome ski areas to the north, and the scenic coastal towns of MA and NH are about an hour east. This scenic colonial region offers lots of New England charm, great schools, shopping, and restaurants. Chelmsford and the region share an impressive past from the early days after the pilgrims arrived in Plymouth to the revolutionary war. Where can you get to from Chelmsford? Chelmsford is about 90 minutes from Cape Cod. Boston is about 30 minutes to the east without traffic. New York City is about 4.5 hours away from Chelmsford. Waterville Valley and other major ski resorts of New Hampshire and Vermont are about 2 to 3 hours to the north

Basic Qualifications
BS or MS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
Thermal, structural and dynamics experience in the aerospace industry.
Experience with 3D CAD software
Experience with thermal, structural and dynamic analysis of assembly systems, subsystems, and components.
Strength in FEA analysis with a desire to learn more and demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating analysis plans and reports, documentation and proposals are necessary.
Candidate must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance

Desired skills
Experience with PTC CREO, Ansys, NX Nastran, Abaqus, and finite element pre and post processors.
Exposure with core software tools (NX Thermal//Flow, Nastran and Abaqus).
Exposure with core or second tier pre and post processing tools (Ansa, Meta, Hypermesh, Patran, and FEMAP).
Experience with CFD software and Siemens NX CAD and Thermal/Flow software suite
Experience with MATLAB and Mathcad.
Experience performing structural and thermal analysis using classical methods.
Experience writing component specifications, and system/subsystem/component test plans.
Design of shock and vibration isolation system design
Hands on experience with environmental testing including thermal, shock and vibration testing
