Mechanical Engineer for the Military Support Program Structures, Mechanisms, and Thermal Products team

The candidate will be responsible for the design of satellite system hardware through the full product life-cycle (Design, Build, Test and Integrate), including spacecraft structures, thermal products and/or mechanical integration. Specific tasks and responsibilities include the following
• Generate/update solid models using CREO, create/revise detailed drawings and release engineering work products in EPDM (Enterprise Product Data Management)
• Review requirements from various sources (dynamics, stress, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.), and ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of the products
• Must be able to work effectively in an integrated product team environment
• Must collaborate effectively with program leadership, technical leadership, subject matter experts, peers, analysis, configuration control, procurement, planning and production to ensure technical requirements and program schedules are met
• CPE (Certified Principle Engineer) training and delegate experience is a plus

Basic Qualifications
• BSME (or related field) from an accredited university +5 years experience, or MS +3 years experience, or equivalent related years of experience
• Familiarity with CREO or similar mechanical CAD tools for layout, concept definition, design, and drawings of mechanical hardware
• Proven understanding of structures, mechanisms, materials and processes
• Mechanical design, manufacture, test and integration experience with flight hardware
• Proficient with CAD modeling, drafting and release in Creo/EPDM with working knowledge of ASME Y14.5
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, surface treatment, etc
• Demonstrated ability to work within multidisciplinary product development teams
• Demonstrated knowledge of other disciplines including stress, dynamics, thermal analysis, production, test, electronics, systems engineering, etc
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Active TS/SCI government security clearance (or equivalent SSBI clearance that facilitates immediate transfer to TS/SCI)

Desired skills
• Proficient with CAD modeling, drafting and release in Creo/EPDM
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 / GD&T
• Experience using CAD models as record of authority (Data Set Rating 4 and/or 6)
• Experience working with internal/external suppliers
• Demonstrated commitment to development and deployment of productivity improvements and leveraging new technologies
• Experience with test methods, planning and execution
• Experience with DOORS (Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System) and Sharepoint
• CPE or equivalent training/experience
