The Orion Environmental Controls and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) mechanical design engineer will be responsible for developing concepts, detailed models, detailed engineering drawings, leading technical reviews and release of engineering products that meet Lockheed Martin drawing standards and customer requirements. The designs will include structural, mechanisms, and fluid designs for coolant, oxygen and nitrogen control and delivery systems. The designer will ensure the designs are manufacturable and meet cost and internal command media requirements. The designer will coordinate with multiple disciplines for requirements and approvals. This will include stress and thermal analysis, materials and processes, quality engineering, and manufacturing. The designer will assist the project manager in integration of the design

Basic Qualifications
• Aerospace or mechanical engineering background is required with Experienced in structural, mechanism, and/or fluid system design
• Must have mechanical design skills and experience required to create detail piece part designs, assemblies and associated engineering drawings
• Must be proficient in PTC Creo 2 (or prior Pro/E version) or an equivalent CAD system
• Must be proficient with using PTC Windchill PDM
• Experience in formal engineering review, approval and release process involving multi-discipline team
• Experience with industrial and military/aerospace standards and specifications
• Good communications skills. Must be able to communicate effectively, and be able to present to a broad audience
• Experience with standard Microsoft Office applications – MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Desired skills
• Experience in complex system integration and installation drawings
• In depth knowledge of material selection and treatments, stress analysis, technical writing, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5-2009 or later), tolerance stack-up analysis, Mathcad, product development, and manufacturing
• Working knowledge of fluid systems and components such as valves, regulators, and fittings
• Experience with human-rated spaceflight (NASA) hardware design and integration including Crew Equipment or pressure control systems
• Experience in Lockheed Martin or other aerospace company drawing standards
• Experience on Lockheed Martin Space or NASA Programs especially the NASA Orion Program
