Electronics Packaging Engineer Sr - The candidate will create/update 3D solid models/drawings in CREO and/or IDEAS of space flight avionics and/or electrical ground support equipment (EGSE). The candidate will support the design layout of printed wiring boards and circuit card assemblies - ensuring design meets thermal, stress and electrical requirements. The candidate will support trade studies on electronic packaging design approaches and will provide technical data for informal and formal Design Review documentation and presentations
The candidate will coordinate with thermal, dynamic, stress, reliability, EMC, and survivability analyses to assure compliant designs. The candidate will support manufacturing and test disciplines in minimizing cycle time and resolving electronic packaging problems
The candidate will establish specifications for contract assemblers and raw-material vendors. Interface with Parts Engineering, Quality Assurance and Purchasing regarding material quality and vendor performance. Provide producible designs that meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements, and work within an Integrated Product Team environment
The candidate will prepare all applicable drawings and documentation needed for the fabrication and assembly of the hardware designed
The candidate will support manufacturing of packaging designs: trouble-shooting and dispositioning vendor, manufacturing and test problems as they arise
The candidate should be willing to work occasional overtime

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. This position will require good working knowledge and experience with electronics packaging for space flight applications, experience with printed wiring board and circuit card assembly design as it pertains to stress and thermal management, full working knowledge and experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and experience with Creo and/or Pro-E CAD design

Desired skills
Knowledge of advanced packaging technologies including Surface Mount Technology (SMT), advanced materials and parts
Experience working on the development of spaceflight batteries and/or power boxes
Working knowledge of the following:
1. Experience in Electronic Packaging of space flight avionics in a model-based environment
2. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
3. CREO Solid modeling and drafting or similar 3D CAD modeling software
4. Experience with Mentor, Zuken; specifically involvement with circuit card layout and printed wiring board design, IDEAS, SAP/IRIS/PDM
5. Drafting techniques and manufacturing processes.
6. Microsoft suite of tools (Word, Power Point, Excel, etc)
