Job Details

Engineering analyst to perform thermal analysis (passive/active) in support of the Orion Crew Systems hardware design teams including ECLSS. Tasks shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
1) Manipulation of CAD/CAE solid geometry models;
2) Importing solid models into Thermal Desktop suite including AutoCAD and preparation for analysis;
3) Employing Thermal Desktop suite to analyze thermal characteristics of hardware under various environmental conditions;
4) Determine the need for active thermal control systems (heaters, etc.) and participate in their design placement & sizing;
5) Employing Thermal Desktop w/ FloCAD and SINDA/FLUINT for thermal analysis of gas/fluid components/systems;
6) Define component level requirements based on analysis results;
7) Perform preliminary and final analyses, drawing coordination and sign-off, test support and correlation, analysis presentations, and documentation of analyses for deliverable thermal analysis reports; and
8) Perform analysis of discrepant hardware during on-going assembly and integration activity. Analysis shall include all mission phases from ground handling through landing and recovery

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Math, Physics, or Engineering
• Strong understanding of thermal analysis principles and practical experience with analysis techniques
• Moderate understanding of gas/fluid dynamics principles and practical experience with analysis techniques
• Minimum 3 years of practical experience with Thermal Analysis tools and methodology using the Thermal Desktop/AutoCAD w/FloCAD tool suite
• Practical experience with CFD methodology and tools (ANSYS, SINDA/FLUINT)
• Practical experience with CAD/CAE solid model design tools
• Experience with Windows-based office automation tools (MS Office toolset)
• Good verbal/written communication skills

Desired skills
• Aerospace, chemical, or mechanical engineering background
• Practical experience with the manipulation of CAD/CAE solid models using PTC Creo/ProductView
• Experience with aircraft/spacecraft subsystem or component level thermal analysis (active/passive) especially those involving gas and fluid systems
• Strong experience with CFD methodology and tools (ANSYS, SINDA/FLUINT)
• Familiarity with human-rated spaceflight hardware test and analysis
• Experience with industrial and military/aerospace standards and specifications
• Experience on Lockheed Martin space or NASA Programs especially the NASA Orion Program
