Job Details

As a member of the Materials, NDI, and Failure Analysis Group within the Ground Test Labs, the selected candidate will provide materials testing and analysis related support to Engineering and Production for Lockheed Martin aircraft products. The candidate will also support other groups within the lab as needed to perform various types of investigative analysis and tests. Candidate will become familiar with and use the following laboratory preparation, testing and analysis techniques:
• Rockwell Hardness Testing
• Microhardness Testing
• Metallurgical Sample Preparation
• Metallography
• Optical Microscopy
• Macro Photography
• Scanning Electron Microscopy
• Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis
• Electrical Conductivity Testing
• Handheld X-Ray Fluorescence Testing
• Failure Analysis and Detailed Report Preparation
• Various Additional Materials Testing Techniques

Basic Qualifications
Candidate must:
• Be a US citizen and be able to obtain a Department of Defense secret security clearance
• Be willing and able to support extended and off shift work schedules (evenings and weekends) on occasion
• Be willing and able to work in hazardous laboratory environments and with hazardous chemicals/materials (e.g., acids, bases, alkalis, solvents, fuels, aircraft sealants, etc.) and follow all Personal Protective Equipment and safety requirements
• Be willing and able to work in a laboratory environment by themselves or with other team members
• Be able to effectively document and accurately convey technical data within test reports
• Have a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or Metallurgical Engineering. If candidate has adequate specific related Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or Metallurgical Engineering laboratory experience, then candidate may be considered if they have a 4 year science or engineering degree from an accredited institution
