RMS - Sikorsky Aircraft is seeking a Materials and Process Engineering Sr. Manager for a position in Stratford, Ct. The Materials and Process engineering department is functionally responsible for providing technical support and direction in the development, production and field support of aerospace components and materials. Experience with engineering materials, manufacturing processes, composite and metals technology, material design allowables, material test protocols, protective finishes and coatings, non-destructive inspection, and failure analysis is desired. In addition, knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings and specifications involving metals, non-metallic and composite materials is required. This position will require the candidate to effectively communicate, collaborate and partner with other functional engineering groups, program teams, and production teams to meet both current and future technical and business goals and objectives.

The position roles and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Technical and/or Project leadership and planning
Talent assessment and development consistent with Lockheed Martin Human Resource processes and practices Development and administration of employee performance assessments, salary adjustments and promotions in accordance with Lockheed Martin Policy and Compensation Philosophy
Workforce planning and implementation – including assigning the appropriately skilled/capable resources to programs, projects and other business initiatives (consistent with budget constraints); forecasting current and future staffing needs/requirements Recruiting and hiring in order to meet diversity targets and business needs
Continuous improvement planning and implementation Input into branch capital and facility plans Dissemination of company information in a professional and timely fashion
Enforcement of company and government policies and procedures and regulations

Basic Qualifications
Engineering or Technical Degree

20 + years’ experience in an aerospace environment, experience in a materials and process engineering function
Previous experience managing/leading an engineering functional group.
Demonstrated experience managing a large team in a dynamic fast paced operational environment
Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
Must have good interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to work with all levels of the organization
Ability to motivate teams in a matrixed environment in multiple locations
Demonstrated experience in developing technical talent and building pipelines to sustain technical expertise within the organization
Must demonstrate a strong commitment and adherence to the Lockheed Martin Core Values and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and have a history of team building, collaboration, and customer relationship management

Desired skills
Related Advanced degree
LM Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
Adaptable and flexible with the ability to manage change and lead the organization in continuous improvement initiatives
Proven experience as a thought leader with demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action
Track record of problem solving with shop floor and suppliers
