Job Details

Manager, Trading (EDF Trading North America, LLC – Houston, TX) Develop custom pricing and risk management software for the power trading desk. Implement transmission system studies and market simulations using power flow programs and market modeling platforms. Implement optimal hedging tools for various risk factors for the power trading desk. Create weather forecasting signals and metrics to understand trends and pattern changes. Identify various arbitrage identification and execution strategies for power desks. Manage correlation risk across the portfolio. Produce and customize reports and indexes summarizing the Energy markets and portfolios. Originate forecasting models and calibration tools for power trading desk. Develop power flow models for various US ISO Markets. Lead the Fundamental Traders in model calibration, position sizing and correlation analysis. Provide technical transmission expertise, training and consultation to the region's personnel and senior management as required. Evaluates positions while making recommendations on Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) strategies to ensure Company maintains in compliance with risk management policies. Produce regular short-term to mid-term nodal-level LMP market reports and forecasts.

Requires a Master's degree in Finance, Power or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or working with and analyzing datasets and power flow systems, including utilizing PowerFlow, PowerWorld production cost modeling software, and programming in Matlab or R. 1 year of stated experience must include the following: working with power transmission networks as well as capital and risk management in US electricity markets; analyzing nodal pricing components of energy, congestion, marginal and physical losses, and ISO transmission system operation and planning; performing pricing, risk assessment, transaction structuring, model validation, statistical analysis and portfolio optimization; utilizing at least one of the following market forecasting tools: PROMOD, Aurora, or DAYZER; electric power system operations and power portfolio management including demand, generation and congestion management tools; ICE Trading Platform for short or long term positions; IT aspects of nodal level LMP market modeling and analytics; utilizing MS Excel, Tableau, SQL and C#. Experience may be gained concurrently.
