Starting Salary Range $112,611 to $140,764

Problem Solving – Seeking a candidate who takes logical and systematic approaches to solving problems. Avoids jumping to conclusions prematurely; thoroughly analyzes all aspects of the problem and brainstorms alternative causes and solutions. Considers resource constraints when generating solutions.   • Ability to apply proficient knowledge of electric power theory and design to circuit analysis.

Recognizes when input from others is needed to make effective decisions. Weighs the costs, benefits, and implications of decisions before making them. Makes decisions that are in the best interests of the company, even when they are difficult or unpopular.

 

Strategic Thinking – The ideal candidate understands and can explain the "big picture" and how different strategies relate to organizational objectives or issues. Accurately assesses the organization's strengths and weaknesses. Determines opportunities and threats through comprehensive analysis of current and future trends. Develops effective strategies that align with the organization's vision and values, and balances long-term strategic goals with short-term priorities.

  • Directs engineering studies or investigations to support the operation of the distribution system for other departments.
  • Identifies and analyzes alternative views of the future of the LES Transmission & Distribution system.
  • Assists with establishing the division’s strategic plan and sets priorities for department consistent with division goals.

 

Project Management – The individual in this position ensures that projects are monitored for variances and adhere to internal controls, time and cost metrics, and financial and procurement requirements. Ensures timely reporting of program status to all appropriate stakeholders, adjusting communication content and practices to audience needs. Uses effective conflict resolution techniques to resolve conflicts with project priorities, funding, etc.

  • Directs and coordinates the development of a long and short range construction program of transmission and distribution facilities based on sound engineering and economic principles, to ensure the efficient and economical growth of the LES system.
  • Develops the transmission and distribution capital construction budget.

 

Leading/Facilitating Teams – Seeking a candidate who ensures that members understand team goals and alignment of team goals to individual goals. Monitors team progress and holds members accountable for tasks. Reinforces team culture and procedures helping new team members to align. Shows confidence in others and appreciation of their contributions. Shares ownership for set-backs and responds promptly with appropriate corrective action.

  • Manages and oversees the effective supervision of staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, monitoring performance, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained, and making hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, and
  • Eight years of progressively responsible utilities experience in area of assignment, including supervisory experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Professional Engineer’s (PE) License
