Description: Position Overview

Georgia Tech Research Institute's Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research (CIPHER) Laboratory is currently seeking  a skilled Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) engineer with experience in security and networking. This position requires the candidate to possess an in-scope Secret DoD clearance.  Candidates must enjoy working with open source software and cutting edge technologies. Candidates will contribute to sponsored research projects and have an opportunity to work with scientists and engineers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Installation and maintenance of Linux environments
  • Configuration management
  • Build custom RPMs
  • Design and build a secure infrastructure
  • Write custom SELinux modules
  • Solve networking issues
  • Virtual Machine management

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist I

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or other related area.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist II

  • A Master’s degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or other related area and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or other related area and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or other related area.

Primary Skills

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (3+ years)

  • Networking Experience (3+)

  • US Citizen, no foreign ties
  • Secret Clearance Required, preference to Top Secret

  • Ability to acquire new skills efficiently
