This position supports the LCS Program Office, specifically the program management team responsible for the Class Services contracts
Coordinates planning, organization, control, integration and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility. Plans and formulates engineering program; reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Evaluates and provide technical approval for design changes, specification and drawing releases. Coordinates activities concerned with technical issues/developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test & trial problems

• The Liaison Engineer will be a member of the shipyard liaison office which is empowered by and accountable to the LCS Class Design Services team with the responsibility and authority to support the resolution of engineering and design issues encountered during LCS ship construction in order to deliver to the LCS program office ships that meet quality, technical, cost, and schedule requirements of the LCS program.

• The LCS Class Design Services Liaison Engineer will respond to Ship Design & Construction and Trial Card Inquiries Using the Liaison Inquiry Process. The inquiries can span a broad background of all engineering and design disciplines (structure, HVAC, electrical, piping, machinery, outfit)

• The Liaison Engineer will support Ship Functional & Detail Design Synchronization and Production Coordination within the LM Team and with the Navy Customer

• The Liaison Engineer will support Navy Customer directed change incorporation and resolution of issues encountered during construction with the LM Team and Customer. Reviews layouts or details of equipment, mechanisms, structures, and shipboard alterations to systems. Ensures that customer requirements are implemented and reviews change accounting activity to ensure compliance with configuration management policies. Reviews designs for major components, or major portions of a functional system

• The Liaison Engineer will support incorporation of Ship Post-Delivery Feedback into Future and Existing Ship Design & Construction

• The Liaison Engineer will support Post-Delivery transition availabilities with Future and Existing Ship Design & Construction Information

Basic Qualifications
Familiarity with Naval shipbuilding design and construction

Familiarity with reviewing technical requirements, verifications requirements and assessing design compliance

Ability to grasp technical and logistical aspects of ship design and construction to support decisions and issue resolution as they impact contracts, schedules, and budgets.

Ability to quickly respond to ship engineering and design inquiries with a technical recommendation

Use of AutoDesk products such as AutoCAD and Navisworks

Use of Microsoft Office products (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Desired skills
Ability to complete tasks with minimal direction once familiar with available resources

Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interface with management, technical operations, sourcing, vendors, subcontractors, industrial trades and the customer on program and technical issues
