Job Details

The Faculty of Engineering at Victoria University of Wellington is developing world-leading undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Cybersecurity. We will combine research excellence with innovative and motivating teaching to create the leading centre for Cybersecurity in Australasia, located in one of the world's most desirable countries to live in. Our programmes will encompass the technical design and implementation of Cybersecurity, whilst also including the relevant aspects of regulations, policy, psychology, human factors and criminology.

Unlike almost any other Cybersecurity degree, our students will be exposed to a commercial, Carnegie-Mellon Software Engineering Institute (SEI) accredited CSIRT, and our programmes are fully informed by the latest SEI Cybersecurity developments.

We seek top quality applicants with skills and expertise in some relevant aspect of Cybersecurity, including (but not limited to) system and network security, secure software development, computer forensics, intrusion detection, authentication systems, cyber risk and economics, incident handling and the usability of Cybersecurity.

This is a rare opportunity to develop your academic career in a collegial and collaborative environment at the heart of New Zealand's nexus of industry, research and government sectors. Wellington's landscape and lifestyle, along with Victoria University's standing as the top research institute in New Zealand and in the top 2% worldwide, means that this position is an outstanding combination of academic opportunity and work/life balance. The Faculty's strategic direction and commitment to collaborative, inter-disciplinary and globally impactful academic work will mean that early career academics will be able to enhance both their research and teaching portfolios.
