This position will involve conducting high-quality research in emerging areas of cybersecurity; teaching undergraduate and postgraduate classes in cybersecurity principles and practices; and providing leadership in a university setting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting high-quality research in one or more areas of cybersecurity principles and practices such as critical infrastructure design, computer security certification, identity management, digital forensics, network security, ransomware recovery, security auditing, information security management, trusted computing bases, malware analysis, intrusion detection, security-by-design, social engineering, applied cryptography, cloud security, supply chain security.
  • Research-inspired teaching in a variety of cybersecurity topics applicable to a range of modern technologies, applications, management issues and social settings.
  • Publication of academic research papers, supervision of research staff, and attracting government and industry-funded research income.
  • Service to the university through mentoring, participation in relevant academic committees, assistance with student recruitment activities and extra-curricular student events. Contributing to the profession through appropriate engagement with conference organisation and journal manuscript reviewing.
  • Supervision of student projects at both undergraduate (Bachelors) and postgraduate (Masters and Doctorate) levels.
  • Implementing and administering University policy within the Faculty with respect to equitable access to education and workplace health and safety.

  1. Research experience, including a solid track record in high-quality research publications, together with experience in successfully managing research projects.
  2. Record of excellence and leadership in scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning at tertiary level
  3. A solid understanding of contemporary and emerging cybersecurity issues, principles and best-practices covering multiple aspects of cybersecurity from relevant technologies to social engineering. Industry experience in the field would be viewed very favourably.
  4. Experience with successful supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research student projects.
  5. Significant success in attracting research funding from either government or industry sources.
  6. Strong knowledge of the mathematical or theoretical aspects of information security (e.g. cryptographic fundamentals, information theory, complex system modelling) is highly desirable.
