Become part of our team as the In-Country System Safety Engineering Technical Advisor for the KF-X aircraft development program. This program provides technical assistance to Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to develop an advanced, multi-role fighter for the Republic of Korea Air Force. This position is located in Sacheon, South Korea

The KF-X program is seeking a person with technical experience in the area of System Safety Engineering to serve as a technical advisor for the Systems Integration & Air Vehicle Design team. This position is a primary point of contact deployed in-country for advising and consulting with KAI program leaders to ensure customer needs are met. The selected candidate will serve as the System Safety advisor interface between the KF-X Technical Lead and the Systems Integration & Air Vehicle technical leads, and performing team members

The selected candidate will have acknowledged experience in the area of System Safety Engineering for military fighter/attack Aircraft Development Programs. The candidate should have working/applied knowledge of System Safety Program Plan development and execution. Requires demonstrated experience in Hazard Identification, evaluation and control using quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques typically used in the conceptual/preliminary design phase of a program. The candidate should also be experienced in the area of performing qualitative and quantitative hazard analyses to conduct risk assessments and trade studies needed to evaluate and optimize design choices and recommend appropriate controls to mitigate safety hazards. This position requires extensive interface and coordination of system safety activities with aircraft design teams, suppliers, internal management and external customers. The candidate should be able to assist the customer in developing and executing a System Safety Program Plan that defines the specific approaches, tasks, roles, and responsibilities required to achieve overall system-level safety performance objectives. The candidate should also have an understanding of adjacent disciplines for efficient collaboration and trade-offs supporting all program objectives

In addition to strong technical skills, the candidate should have a track record of success working in diverse groups where attention to the customer is paramount. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert and train and mentor customer engineers. Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Candidate must be able to relocate internationally

Basic Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following:

• Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience in military aircraft flight test instrumentation
• Possesses technical knowledge / experience with fighter aircraft configuration design to provide expert assessment of KF-X design and provide design improvement & optimization recommendations in the technical discipline of System Safety Engineering
• Demonstrated System Safety experience in a Conceptual/Preliminary Design environment
• Demonstrated System Safety experience in a Development Program
• Possesses experience in training and mentoring less experienced engineers to train KAI engineers in the practical application of the System Safety technical discipline
• Experience leading a project or team
• Experience with military or government programs
