Lead Systems Engineer

MITRE provides architecture, engineering, and analytic support to a DOJ sponsor responsible for a variety of COTS based systems that require significant enhancement and O&M activities. Current project leads are business subject matter experts that do not have technical project management experience. The sponsor needs assistance in instilling rigorous technical project activities that address life cycle management, requirements tied to automated testing, systems design, configuration (source code control, system configuration management), problem report and fix processes, performance management, and development/enhancement of system operational procedures.

Key Functions:

This position will work closely with several government project leads. In collaboration with other MITRE resources, this position will be responsible for instilling more rigorous technical engineering processes on the projects. A major challenge will be to shift the projects from immature and fragile practices to more rigorous and sustainable engineering practices. This position requires experience in providing actionable recommendations for implementing systems engineering practices, and knowledge of source code control tools, automated testing tools, interactions between requirements repositories and automated testing tools, life cycle methodologies, systems operations procedures, capacity projections (storage, memory), and COTS implementations.
