MITREs Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Portfolio is seeking a motivated, results-oriented engineer to join our Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Technical Direction Agent (TDA) team as Project Leader and technical contributor. The TDA executes in a collaborative environment with the government and other Federally Funded Research and Development Centers and University Affiliated Research Centers. The Project Leader also serves as a Company Lead within the TDA construct; this involves working with TDA Leadership to staff and deliver technical quality MITRE expertise to the TDA work program. Huntsville is the ideal location for this position; however, other locations with sufficient sponsor connectivity (and higher travel availability) will be considered.




 












Required Qualifications:

  • Engineering experience relevant to GMD objectives in order to bring technical relevance to the project

  • Ability to provide leadership and technical management of tasks to influence and direct efforts

  • Understanding of MITRE Project Leadership approach

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships

  • Willingness to work in a shared leadership model

  • Possess tact, diplomacy, poise, and persistence

  • Experience in requirements definition, systems integration, and analysis

  • Possess an active secret security clearance


Preferred Qualifications


 


  • Formal or informal experience in Project Management

  • Understanding of the GMD mission and work program

  • Knowledge of the Ballistic Missile Defense System

  • Technical background in systems engineering and one or more of the following: fire control systems, communications, and/or command and control

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelors Degree in one of the following disciplines, Electrical,  Computer or Systems Engineering or similar field 

  • 8 years related experience
