The MITRE Corporations Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD) is seeking a candidate with strong Linux/Unix systems administration skills, who can work closely with internal software development teams to build security, reliability, and scalability into the development lifecycle and infrastructure systems physical, virtual and cloud-based. The ideal candidate will be highly energized by the opportunity to work on a world-class team designing and operating advanced server, network, Cloud (AWS, Azure, etc.), and Big Data analytics architectures in support of CAASD aviation labs. The candidate best suited for the position will thrive in a highly dynamic environment, easily performing independent work, as well as working comfortably in team settings. Responsibilities include day-to-day operation of Linux systems, interacting and collaborating directly with CAASD engineer teams, monitoring of enterprise and cloud environments, caring for backup and restore operations, and installing and configuring software.

Key Functions:

- Strong Unix/Linux background
- Install and maintain Red Hat Linux workstations and servers in CAASD Labs and virtual environments. Working knowledge of RedHat/CentOS 6 & 7
- Support Cloud (AWS, Azure) instance creation and administration DevOps


-Motivated DevOps Engineer with a solid understanding of agile development methodologies

-Design, build, and operate open source and proprietary cloud architectures, AWS, Azure, Openstack

-Strong coding skills in a variety of languages: Java, Phython, Shell, and C (++) preferred

- Use of data analytics technologies: Hadoop, HDFS, Horton HDP, Hbase, Hive, Spark

Experience with Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes and container deployment and management strategies.

- Network, storage, information security experience a plus

- Assist and troubleshoot a wide variety of user environment, software build and configuration, network connectivity and proxy issues.

- Directly assist in the design and deployment of new system architectures and software code.

Required Qualifications:
BS and 5 years experience or MS or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidate should have significant experience with most or all of the following technologies: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5/6, Shell, Perl and/or Python scripting, KVM hypervisor, SQL, NFS, SSH, NIS, SNMP, general system hardening and performance tuning, kickstart, MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, Nagios, AWS, Azure.

Minimum Qualifications:
BS and 8 years related experience or equivalent years of experience.
