This position is an exciting opportunity for a lead Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) engineer to shape the future of Army and DoD-wide PNT solutions.  This role would serve as a trusted advisor to senior Army sponsors as well as senior sponsors within the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition Technology and Logistics (USD AT&L).  Also, this role will be responsible for identifying and addressing new customer priorities in these areas, as well as engaging MITRE resources to ensure that appropriate subject matter experts are engaged. 


Key topics of interest include:

  • Assured PNT

  • M-code modernization (space / ground / user segments)

  • Leveraging of multiple global navigation satellite systems (GNSS)

  • Countermeasures against Navigation Warfare (NAVWAR), Cyber, or Electronic Warfare (EW)

  • Integration issues with platforms, weapons, and/or other systems such as communications or EW

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in PNT systems of systems engineering, design, technical evaluation, or acquisition oversight

  • Familiarity with anti-jam antennas and signal processing

  • Knowledge of hardware including radio frequency (RF) through digital and embedded processing

  • Broad technical familiarity in PNT systems (spanning space / ground / user segment technologies), military and commercial

  • Good familiarity with DoD processes for acquisition (DAS/DoD 5000) / requirements (JCIDS) / resourcing (PPBE)

  • Experience with understanding gaps, formulating technical solutions, and also providing acquisition oversight for enterprise modernization of Army and Joint PNT systems.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.


It is preferable for the candidate to have one or more of the following:


  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

  • Knowledge of threats to PNT systems and their effective countermeasures

  • Familiarity with DoDAF or other architecture frameworks

  • Understanding of Modular Open System Architecture (MOSA) principles as they relate to PNT systems or platform integration

  • Understanding of PNT dependencies with other capabilities such as tactical communications, command and control, or targeting

  • Understanding of DoD weapon systems that rely on or incorporate PNT systems

  • Familiarity with emerging PNT technologies from industry or academia

  • Possess an active secret clearance.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and 8 years related experience.
