Parsons is now recruiting and hiring an Electrical Engineering Manager who can lead a team of professionals and oversee the engineering efforts of several technical project groups in the DC and MD Region.

We want our engineering managers to be versatile, enthusiastic workers in highly agile, team-oriented environments who have exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills.

In this position you will provide management and direction for Parsons’ Government Services Electrical Engineering Team. We need you to be able to cast vision and lead a group of electrical engineers and designers located in large American cities and outpost offices. You need analytic skills, but not necessarily direct use of analysis software, we prefer ETAP but also know functional experience in other software such as SKM is directly applicable.


We’re looking for someone that can leap tall buildings. Not someone who walks on water, but able to swim and teach others. We need someone who can give and take correction and instruction and is looking for a long-term position providing continuity to lead their team forward.



Responsible for overall managerial and technical direction of the discipline. Recruits, interviews, and evaluates prospective employees. Hires, helps plan personnel development, conducts performance evaluations, counsels, takes corrective action, as required and approves terminations. Ensures that new employees receive orientation on company policies and procedures.

  • Reviews and approves discipline staffing budget estimates and staffing assignment schedules on each project. Reviews and approves staff forecasting reports.
  • Monitors the quality and progress of the discipline on each project, ensuring that production requirements are satisfied. Works closely with Project Managers to resolve any existing or forecasted problems related to discipline staffing, quality of work, schedule performance or productivity.

  • Establishes standards and procedures manuals for the discipline.

  • Recommends improvements to department procedures.

  • Supervises the preparation of the discipline's annual salary plan and controls salary actions within the approved plan.

  • Supports pre-contract and business development efforts as required, serving as technical consultant.

  • Ensures performance within overhead budgets assigned to the discipline.

  • Actively participates in and promotes the Quality Improvement and Worker Safety Programs.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate and under the direction the Engineering Vice President.


Education and Experience

4-year BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering, and:

  • 15 to 25 years of related work experience.
  • Including significant managerial and design production experience with a large group of engineers, designers, and technical support personnel.

  • Professional Engineer registration and NCEES Record Book as a professional engineer, with active membership in a professional engineering society.

  • Up to 30% travel is routinely expected.

  • Proven ability for managing a large group of engineering/technical personnel in multiple offices and directing work involving complex technical situations. Excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required. Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific engineering software for use in completing engineering assignments (e.g., collaborative distributed-resource Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD, Revit, Microstation, or other related software packages, as well as those associated with electrical engineering work, such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower or Power Analytics (Paladin).

  • Knowledgeable with various designs and specifications and experience with the following: medium-voltage power distribution equipment, HVAC, lighting systems, large UPS and battery systems, grounding / lightning protection systems, utilization-voltage substations, medium-voltage and low-voltage switchgear, Arc Flash Hazard reduction, clean room systems, electromagnetic shielding, TEMPEST, turbine and diesel generator plants, Microgrids and distributed generation resources.

  • Subsystems for these facilities may include; fire and voice alarms, surveillance video and access control and intrusion detection systems, radio, optic fiber and wire-based communications networks.

  • TS clearance preferred.
