MIDC has many large and complex new product
development projects underway, with dozens of engineers across globally
distributed sites (in Bangalore, as well as at multiple sites in USA and
China), in partership with many internal partners (RD and Commercial Sales
colleagues at other RCS locations, Medtronic’s Technical Centers of Excellence,
etc.) and external vendors (engineering service providers, suppliers, testing
agencies, contract manufacturers, etc.).

**A Day in theLife**

+ The Lead Electrical Engineer would supportsuch projects, by developing and executing on electronic aspects of productdevelopment. Products are typically electro-mechanical in nature, involvingfluid circuitry.

+ The RCS business unit has a lean,entrepreneurial and distributed global model for product development,manufacturing and commercial operations. Therefore, this person will need tohave a global mindset, be self-driven, be comfortable dealing with ambiguity,and possess great communication / collaboration skills.

+ Alignment with the Medtronic Mission and astrong desire to work in the healthcare domain on solutions that alleviatepain, restore health and extend life are critical requirements for this role.

**Must Haves**

+ Lead electronicsengineering efforts for an electromechanical product in partnership with acrossfunctional RD team, while meeting the requirements for features, costand schedule. Responsibilities include technical risk mitigation, design,prototyping, development and testing.

+ Perform hands-on workin the lab; oversee the work of junior engineers, technicians and contractors

+ Track progress ofjunior electronics engineers for a project/product, ensuring technicaadequecyand timiliness of deliverables.

+ Create and maintaindevelopment plan for electronic subsystem for the project/product

+ Identify vendors fordeveloping prototypes and for manufacturing commercial-release electronic boards

+ Work withquality/reliability engineering to identify and minimize sources of technicalrisk; ensure that the product meets medical device-related safety andcompliance standards.

+ Maintain high qualitydocumentation of the entire design.

+ Bachelor ofEngineering in Electronics and Communication, Instrumentation Engineering orequivalent.

+ 7+ years of workexperience as electronics engineer in the design and development of multidisciplinarytechnical products (biomedical or electromechanical).

+ Experience with FPGAor microprocessor-based control systems; analog and digital system design;power supply design; interfacing with sensors, actuators.

+ Experience of testingfor compliance and solving EMI issues in products.

+ Experience working inthe hardware lab with full fluency with electronics equipment such a multi-meters,function generators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, etc.

+ Experience with PCBdesign and tools for schematic capture and simulation.

+ Experience workingwith vendors for PCB fabrication and build; transfer of design for manufacturing

+ Experience of workingwith manufacturer to develop test fixtures for ICT and FCT.

+ Experience withselection of electronic components and management of part obsolescence

+ Experience working ona complete product development lifecycle (project initiation,prototyping,iterative design, project completion, product release, and post-release maintenance)

+ Experience workingwith other functional areas (mechanical, firmware, chemical or systems engineering)for optimizing overall system design.

+ Knowledge of formalmethods to assess and reduce technical risk, to quantify and improve systemreliability and quality, and to ensure product safety

+ Demonstrated abilityto complete complex technical tasks on time, with high-quality documentation

+ Excellent verbal andwritten communication skills

**Nice to haves**

+ Knowledge of basicmechanical engineering concepts (motors, pumps, valves, heaters), and/or biomedicalconcepts (human anatomy, diseases, diagnostics, therapy) strongly preferred.

+ Experience working ina regulated industry (healthcare, automotive, aerospace)

+ Experience managinghealthcare device regulatory activities from the design/testing perspective

+ Experience withembedded software programming (C/C++/Assembly Language)

+ Knowledge ofstatistical tools and methods including Design of Experiments (DOE), Measurement

+ Systems Analysis (MSA)etc.

+ Knowledge of Six Sigmaprinciples in product design and development
