The MITRE Corporation is seeking a highly motivated Senior Technical Submit Matter Expert in the areas of WLAN/WWAN Design and Security, Radio Frequency, and IEEE 802.11/wireless technologies to support program management office initiatives and participate in senior level steering committees to advance the technical Counter Intelligence (CI) mission.


The successful applicant will have experience as a CI or all source analyst with significant threat and vulnerability knowledge to provide technical advice and systems engineering assistance to USG efforts to address technology issues, risks, and risk mitigation issues.

Serve as on-site technical SME to program management office and senior-level working groups working directly with the government leadership to evaluate counterintelligence technical vulnerabilities, and develop mitigation and countermeasure options in the following areas.


IEEE 802.11 / Wireless Technologies

  • Address wireless technology issues, risks, and risk mitigations

  • Assist with oversight, management and governance of wireless technology

  • Provide SME in the areas of WiFi and Networking

  • Develop security requirements to support WiFi initiatives

  • Develop criteria for assessing wireless technology and its implementation

  • Technical review and validation of wireless implementation plans

Information Security (INFOSEC) and Cyber Security

  • Engage with Community of Interest on current threats and countermeasures

  • Analyze a variety of information and intelligence relevant to the threats facing select U.S. government systems, sensitive information, and processes critical to the nation and describe impact to USG systems.

  • Conduct strategic risk assessments and identify processes and methods to protect government interests from CI threats.

  • Provide additional analysis in response to specific threats and incident reports, as needed.

  • Collaborate with intelligence community counterparts, produce short- and long-term written assessments, and brief senior intelligence community.

 Technical and Signals Security / TEMPEST Countermeasures / RF Engineer

  • Serve as technical signals SME to senior-level working groups and committees

  • Serve as executive secretariat for steering committee

  • Coordinate technical reach-back as needed

  • Ability to draft resource and policy recommendations documents based upon working group recommendations

  • Determine security requirements to draft policy

 Technical SME to Training Exercises and Tech Schools

  • Review technical curriculum

  • Identify technical training gaps

  • Propose, develop and support technical training curriculum, exercise, and architecture

  • Provide technical demonstrations

  • Develop and brief training scenarios

  • Advance technical expertise across USG Cyber Schools

  • Participate in training exercises as technical SME setting up and testing technical environments.
