Join MITREs Aerial Communications Department working on state of the art tactical and strategic communications systems for the Department of Defense (DoD). We are seeking an experienced RF/communications engineer with knowledge in the areas of military or commercial communications systems to help address our sponsors critical problems for next generation communications protocols, systems, and technologies.

Key Functions:
This position provides an exciting opportunity to collaborate on technical research and development of next generation aerial and ground based military communication systems. Responsibilities may include performing complex communication system analysis & modeling, including waveform performance, RF coverage and propagation, communications channel effects, modulation and error correction coding techniques, signal detection and jamming analysis, and system level RF performance analysis (e.g. link ranges and cosite interference). Tasks may also involve leading, defining and executing hands-on prototyping and testing activities related to military communications technologies for the airborne environment.

Required Qualifications:
Solid fundamental understanding of several of the following: analog and digital communications theory, digital signal processing, detection and estimation theory, RF performance analysis, modulation and coding techniques, propagation and communications channel effects, or RF/electromagnetic analysis, modeling, and simulation.

Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across multiple organizations and engineering disciplines, as well an ability to frame and articulate technical problems in a systems engineering context.

BS and 8 years related experience.
