Job Details

• Perform as the Juno Spacecraft Certified Principle Engineer (CPE) for flight operations to act as the primary technical advocate for the safety of the spacecraft.
• In this role, the successful candidate will ensure the technical integrity of the spacecraft and challenge the LM Program and Customer Project when unable to achieve technical integrity within allocated cost and schedule.
• Develop and maintain an understanding and knowledge of the spacecraft including hardware, software, and data (e.g., load parameters, simulation, and operational data), operation within the larger mission operations system, expected performance, "in-spec-out-of-family" performance data, interfaces, functions, technical analyses, and critical processes related to the above items, and history over the applicable life cycle (operations and disposal).
• Lead the anomaly resolution process in conjunction with the Project.
• Support the Spacecraft Systems and Subsystem teams as they monitor in-flight spacecraft status and by analyzing/maintaining spacecraft health and operations capabilities.
• Support build, verification and uplink of command products in accordance with the Mission Plan and program-approved changes/updates. Support the command conference where products that affect spacecraft health and safety are approved for uplink.
• Support mission critical or unique event reviews which indicate the state of readiness of the spacecraft to perform that event.
• Provide on-console support, as required, for critical or unique operations.
• Review and approve new and updated mission operations documentation, including command dictionaries, telemetry dictionaries, flight rules and constraints, block dictionaries, and contingency plans

Basic Qualifications
• BS from an accredited college in Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum of 10 years’ spacecraft design and/or operations experience
• Knowledge of the Juno spacecraft design and mission operations
• The ability to be a trusted advisor to leadership and customers
• Experience with the creation of trade studies, risk assessments, and leading anomaly investigations.
• Spacecraft design and/or operations experience
• Ability to work in a diverse technical team and solve problems in a variety of disciplines with the proven ability to think creatively to solve to complex problems
• Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders (customer, program management, systems, subsystems, etc.) to identify and resolve technical, schedule and risk concerns within the Program chain of command

Desired skills
• Previous Certified Principle Engineer (CPE) training and certification
• Experience with Deep Space Exploration mission operations
