Junior Professorship (W1)

for Mobile Dialogue Systems


is open for occupation at the earliest possible date.


The future junior professor (m/f) represents the scientific field in teaching and research. We are looking for an applicant who can demonstrate successful research in several of the following areas:


• Classification procedure for voice acoustics

• Paralinguistic markers in human-machine interaction

• Signal-based algorithms for dialog evaluation

• Interaction evaluation in the mobile environment

• Dialog modeling (emotion and intention recognition, assistance functions)

• Integrated user-centered assistance systems (voice assistants and driver assistance systems)

• Effective algorithms for evaluating the information of mobile sensors


The position holder is desired to participate in the university’s research priorities neu-rosciences, medical technology or automotive systems. We are looking for a scientist with a profile that is already internationally visible in the above-mentioned fields of work, with research results to be proven through relevant publications at recognized, peer-reviewed international conferences and journals.


Based on the applicant’s experience in participation in third-party funded projects and in collaborative projects, she/he should be prepared for interdisciplinary cooperation with partners in academia and industry. Experience in the field of third-party funding is desirable.

The job holder should participate in the basic training and in particular in the develop-ment and didactically innovative profiling of the study program "Information Technology - Smart Systems". Didactic skills are mandatory.


The junior professor must demonstrate special ability to do scientific work, which is usually proven by an above-average doctorate in engineering sciences. Exceptional pedagogical skills are required, which are usually proven by first teaching experience.


The appointment will be made according to German civil service requirements in a civil servant relationship for a period of three years. With a positive evaluation of the profes-sional, pedagogical and personal suitability, an extension by another three years is en-visaged. A direct transfer to a permanent job (tenure track) is not possible. Formal pre-requisites for the appointment of Assistant Professors are stated in § 40 HSG LSA, the limitation in § 41 (1) HSG LSA.
