$1,362 - $2,043 per week ($70,802 – $106,203 estimated annual)

The San Mateo County Transit District is the administrative body for public transit and transportation programs in San Mateo County, California: SamTrans bus service, Redi-Wheels paratransit service, Caltrain commuter rail service and the managing agency for the San Mateo County Transportation Authority. The District transports approximately 32 million customers a year and is one of the nation’s top transit agencies. The Bus Division seeks an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Analyst to handle administration and maintenance of fleet management databases and storage of digital radio communication data for the San Mateo County Transit District(SamTrans).

In this key hands-on role, the selected candidate will be responsible for assisting with the ITS Database maintenance and administration including monitoring transaction data from electronic transfer payment systems (Clipper Card), Farebox, Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs), and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems, analyzing route performance; monitor and update ITS dashboards as well as develop transit-related productivity, performance measurement, reporting tools and process documentation.

We seek an experienced professional who can identify, troubleshoot, and resolve ITS database and reporting, develop custom reports, analyze ITS data, and be responsible for system audits, reports, dataflow diagrams, and statistical analyses for internal and external stakeholders. The selected candidate will liaise with vendors to resolve proprietary data issues, coordinate processes with customers, and consultants and provide formal and informal training sessions on ITS data systems


The ideal candidate should have Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Engineering, Information Technology Systems, Systems Engineering and/or related field plus 2 years of experience in data research and analysis, technical support and/or database administration. . Experience in ITS and connected vehicle technologies is desirable plus knowledge of Brio or Query. Must be proficient with Microsoft Words and Excel, SQL, and Crystal Reporting and must have strong oral and written communication skills.
