Farmingdale State College - Instructional Support Technician

Farmingdale State is a public college of applied science and technology with an enrollment of more than 9,200 undergraduate and graduate students and a rich history of over 80,000 graduates. The Department of Security Systems and Law Enforcement Technology at Farmingdale State College (SUNY) invites applications for an Instructional Support Technician beginning in the Spring of 2018.

The successful candidate will provide technical support for all the technical classes and labs offered by the Department. It includes setting up and maintaining the computers, software, physical security equipment and related materials. Other responsibilities include preparing technical budgets, maintaining an inventory of equipment and keeping the systems up-to-date. Candidates must also help the regular functioning of the Department.


  • A B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Security, Security Systems or closely related field.


  • The candidate should possess experience in computer programming, computer networking, computer security, physical security, computer forensics, and forensic technology. Applicants must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

This is a full-time position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Friday, September 29, 2017 and ending Thursday, October 12, 2017, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
  • Salary $55,000/year, may increase commensurate with experience.
