The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in Atlanta, GA is looking for High Performance Computing Reseachers who can think outside of the box and don’t want to do the same old thing every day. You will develop High Performance Computing capability for faster sensor processing systems. This opportunity is within GTRI’s Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory whose researchers investigate and develop radio/microwave frequency sensor systems. Responsibilities include design and architecture development of state-of-the-art applications and complex real-time algorithms used for radar and other sensors.


  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Math, or Physics
  • US Citizenship AND/ OR the ability to get a security clearance
  • 4+ years of related experience in HPC software design / architecture.
  • Multi-threaded programming (e.g., pthreads, OpenMP, TBB, etc.)
  • Performance programming (e.g., vectorization, cache-aware algorithms, low-level optimization, profile-driven development)
  • Heterogeneous / accelerator programming (e.g., GPUs or Xeon Phi using CUDA, OpenCL, etc.)
  • A background in signal processing and/or linear algebra
  • Familiarity with high-speed networking (e.g., 10/40 GbE, Infiniband)
  • An understanding of computer architecture as it relates to both high level HPC design and low-level optimization
  • Able to program in C/C++


  • A sound understanding of algorithmic complexity
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a distributed team
  • Distributed and parallel programming (e.g., MPI)
  • A background in radar applications and related algorithms
  • Experience with real-time operating systems
