This position mainly supports new product development. Tools used to perform rotor design and analytical tasks include 3-D modeling and kinematic simulation in CATIA V5, and GD&T based on ASME Y14.5-2009 with assembly and installation tolerance stack-up analysis
The Senior Rotor Design Engineer is responsible for Helicopter Rotor System Design, including: rotor control components, blade fold components, blade retention systems, rotor hubs, cones, stationary and rotating swashplates and controls, bushings, plain and journal bearings, use of ball bearings, elastomeric and sliding rod ends and rod end bearings, rotor head fairings, and assembly and installation of those components on aircraft. Projects include new product development, and production and field technical support for all production programs
The Senior Rotor Designer Engineer is responsible for all phases of Rotor System Design, including: conceptual, preliminary, and detail layouts/models/drawings of new rotor head and control systems and modifications to existing products. This job requires the ability to coordinate with many other company-internal groups and with vendors and the aircraft customer to develop design criteria and rotor system components necessary for a successful product and will typically extend through the design and manufacturing phases to ground and flight test. The designer will be able to transform basic product requirements into conceptual designs and successfully down-select into a preferred configuration for preliminary and detail development with emphasis on product performance, safety, durability, weight control, and supportability

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering is required
5 years of professional experience designing helicopter rotor system details and assemblies or similar mechanical components
5 years of professional experience working with CAD and CAE systems, and MS Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Experience working with GD&T, including tolerance stack-up analysis for mechanical assemblies and installations

Desired skills
ANSYS or other finite element analysis software for rough sizing
CATIA V5, including mechanical design layouts, model creation, and creation and release of mechanical part detail and assembly and installation drawings
Experience coordinating with parts suppliers, remotely and on-site at supplier premises
