To begin approximately August 1, 2017 or soon thereafter.
The Hawaii Center for Advanced Communications (HCAC) is an Organized Research Unit (ORU) in the College of Engineering with full time tenure/tenure track faculty working on multidisciplinary research while teaching in the Electrical Engineering Department. Current research activities in HCAC are in the area of advanced wireless communications technologies with focus on Integration of electromagnetics, digital signal processing and networking protocol assets in the design and optimization of advanced multifunction wireless physical systems. Duties: Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of electrical engineering. Develop externally funded research programs resulting in publications in leading scholarly journals, supervise graduate students, and provide departmental, college and university service.
Minimum qualifications: An earned Ph.D. (All-But-Dissertation, ABD, cases will be considered but dissertation must be filed before start of employment) in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with a strong research track record. The core search areas are: (i) Digital signal processing and algorithms, (ii) wireless communications networks, and (iii) digital electronic circuits. Exceptional candidates in other areas of electrical engineering will also be considered, but candidates must show how their future research will advance the core search areas in HCAC. Examples of other areas include, but are not limited to: (i) Active and passive 3D broadband Metamaterials , (ii) Advanced antenna array designs and propagation modeling and (iii) integrated cyber physical systems (includes Internet of Things).
