Description: Summary of Description:  
GTRI is seeking a highly motivated hardware engineer with the ability to design, develop and support mission-critical systems on military airborne platforms.  The candidate join a mid-sized team of hardware, software and system engineers executing ongoing sponsored programs in the field of military avionics and/or Electronic Warfare (EW) systems.  

Basic Responsibilities 

  • Hardware engineering

  • Knowledge and experience in digital hardware design, development and test
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Works well individually or in a group setting
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure and time constraints
  • Ability to self-motivate and derive specific requirements from general tasking descriptions 
  • Ability to assimilate and apply new job-related information in a timely manner 

Research Engineer I

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

Job Requirements:

  • >3 years relevant Experience in digital hardware development – can include relevant school or side projects
  • US Citizenship
  • DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain a clearance within six months after your employment with Georgia Tech Research Institute begins is required

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Familiarity with open system architecture standards (HOST, FACE, OMS, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience with DoD interface standards (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429 etc.)
  • Existing DoD Secret clearance
  • DoD contract work experience
