Job Details

SSAI has an opening for a Group Manager (GM) to support the Hydrospheric and Biospheric (HBS) Support Services contract at NASA GSFC. The Group Manager projects, monitors, and controls aspects of Group performance to ensure that all projects and tasks are accomplished within the prescribed schedule and cost parameters of the overall contract. The GM interfaces with customers to capture project requirements, obtains feedback on performance, and may work with other Group Managers in managing Group staff and efforts. The GM oversees development of task plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, and allocation of available resources.  The GM directly supervises task leads and works collaboratively with other Department/Group Managers to meet contract objectives. The GM reports to the Program Manager on contract matters, ensures that all deliverables are met, and is responsible for all aspects of quality control in assigned tasks.  The GM is a member of SSAI's Senior Management Team and participates actively in corporate initiatives including Business Development (marketing and proposal efforts), strategic planning, employee mentoring, community support activities, and corporate social functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a computer science, engineering or physical science discipline and 12 years of professional experience (advanced degree strongly desired), including 10 years of experience managing groups of 25 or more employees involved primarily in computer science, engineering, and physical science support; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience must include contract administration, project planning, personnel selection and management, and progress monitoring and reporting
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills are required.


Preferred:

 

  • Broad Knowledge of NASA/GSFC projects and missions and Project Management practices and standards
  • Experience in project management practices, including portfolio management, strategic planning, risk assessment and mitigation, earned value management, and performance-based contracting
  • Experience in the NASA contracting environment, and NASA science programs, strongly desired
  • Experience supporting development of proposals for NASA contracts strongly desired
  • PMP Certification
