Are you interested in emerging technologies that will fundamentally change the way enterprise networks function and are secured? Do you want to learn about network automation and ways to leverage network sensor data to predict outages or detect cyber events? Have you heard about software defined networking (SDN) and want to understand how it can be applied to unique environments like the electric grid and other critical infrastructure?


MITRE's Networking and Infrastructure Technical Center is currently looking for Graduate Network Technology and Security Intern to explore these and other challenging questions as we work for a safer, healthier and more secure nation and world. Take this opportunity to join a collaborative and innovative team working with state of the art technology solving challenging technical problems.

On any given day, our interns might expect to conduct hands-on lab analysis to solve technical issues, consider potential integration opportunities, and understand performance/scalability issues.  Work closely with industry to understand best practices and maintain a pulse of innovations in the networking and network security area.  Develop prototypes that demonstrate novel solutions to sponsor problems.  Join other interns to learn about and apply new technologies, collaborate across interdisciplinary teams, and gain the skills necessary to effectively discuss and demonstrate your work.

Required Qualifications:

- A passion to learn and work on challenging problems


- Understanding of networks and layer 3 and 4 protocols (e.g. IP, TCP, UDP, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communications skills


- Basic programming experience


- Completed a BS/BA in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline as well as currently pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
