Key Functions

  • Works with the project team in a dynamic environment to develop and deploy state-of-the-art media processing tools to support federal law enforcement investigations.

  • Executes on individual tasking which contributes to the success of larger systems in an environment that encourages autonomy.

  • Effectively communicates ideas, findings, and progress both verbal and written - to internal stakeholders, government sponsors, and trusted partners.


Required Qualifications

This position requires a rich understanding of modern software development concepts, tools, and practices. Specifically, applicants must demonstrate proficiency or a fundamental understanding with each of the following:

  • Java and at least one additional high-level language such as C++, C#, or Python

  • Linux (e.g., Redhat, CentOS, Debian)

  • Version control software (e.g., git) and build tools (e.g., Ant, Gradle, Maven)

  • Agile development practices

  • Front-end web development

  • Object-oriented design and analysis

  • Service-oriented architectures (SOA)

  • Building and consuming APIs and RESTful web services

  • Relational databases (e.g., MySQL, postgres, Oracle, etc.) and non-relational databases (e.g., ElasticSearch, SOLR, Mongo, Redis, etc.)

  • Image processing and computer vision tools (e.g., ffmpeg, OpenCV)

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure and expertise in the following areas is preferred but not required.

  • Algorithm development targeting GPUs or embedded systems

  • Data pipeline management, ETL/ELT, and data/system architecture

  • Pattern recognition and object detection/recognition

  • Commercial image and video products and practices
Specific knowledge of the following tools is preferred:

  • Machine learning applications (TensorFlow, Caffe, Torch, Apache SystemML)

  • Video codecs (H.264, H.265, DivX, WMV, QuickTime, VPX, etc)
