GTRI's Information and Communications Laboratory (ICL) in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join its mission of conducting applied research, development, test and evaluation of Ground Electronic Warefare and Communications systems. Activities include hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop, system modeling and simulation, system-of-systems and family-of-systems interoperability for lab test set development and engineering.


Looking for an electrical engineer with Field Programmable Gate Array programming experience specifically for Ground Electronic Warfare and communication system development applications.   Ideal candidates should have good knowledge and experience with communications and digital signal processing theory and applications.  Candidates are required to have Bachelors's degree in a relevant field, Masters preferred.

Successful candidates will be expected to have extensive verilog or VHDL experience with a preference for candidates with Xilinx FPGA experience.

Required skills include:

  • BS in Computer Science OR Computer Engineering (MS or PhD preferred)
  • 3+ years of programming and FPGA experience.
  • Strong Windows and Linux software development and automated build environments experience
  • Demonstrated proficency with Verilog or VHDL
  • Experience with Xilinx family (ISE/Vivado) of synthesis tools
  • The selection process will include passing a pre-employment background screening.
  • Position will be based in Atlanta, GA, and will include approximately 10% travel.
  • Highly prefer candidates who currently reside in the Atlanta, GA, area.

Preferred skills include:

  • Strong RF, Communications, and DSP theory knowledge
  • GNURadio, RedHawk, C/C++, Python, Assembly
  • Familiarity with Altera family of tools
  • MATLAB, LabView
  • Proficiency with Python
