The Payload Launch Sites Support Services (PLSSS) Program within SSC provides all launch processing support functions for Office of Space Launch (OSL). The program’s two primary operating locations are Vandenberg AFB, CA and Cape Canaveral AFS, FL. Key elements of the PLSSS program scope include satellite launch processing, satellite transport operations, satellite propellant loading operations, and satellite processing facilities O&M, clean room operations, and safety and environmental services

The responsibilities of the Field Technician will include, but not be limited to:

• Work to maintain all systems in a payload processing facility to include, electrical, cranes up to 50K capacity, air pressurized systems, fire detection/suppression, hydraulics and fuels
• Operate large and mega-doors to provide entry and exit from the processing facility
• Work hand in hand with Responsible Systems Engineers to resolve all anomalies as they occur
• Responsible for performing monthly, semi-annual, annual and biennial inspections on all of the above systems
• Serve as the key team member for processing satellites for launch for multiple customers
• Operate multiple high lift platforms and powered industrial trucks
• Assist with diagnosing/troubleshooting equipment system failures, isolating cause and taking necessary corrective action


The applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

Basic Qualifications
Candidates should possess keen understanding/strong background in/of electrical and mechanical principles.

Strong background in Aerospace career field desired.

Problem solving abilities a plus. Must be able to read and interpret detailed assembly drawings, sketches and circuit diagrams (schematics).

Ability to use all types of instruments, test equipment and tools as required.

Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening

General computer knowledge desired

Experience with operating and repair/maintenance of one off cranes a must

Must be a United States citizen

Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI government security clearance

Desired skills
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment a must

Experience in reading and interpreting detailed assembly drawings, sketches and circuit diagrams (schematics) related to support equipment.

Familiarity with inspection practices and procedures; of operational test methods and of functional test equipment relating to missiles and their components, subsystems, major systems and their integration.

Strong safety mindset.

Demonstrated ability to work in teams. Possess a high level of personal attributes/qualities.

Experience and disciplines handling flight hardware is a plus
