The Department of Electrical, Computer, Software, and Systems Engineering (ECSSE) in the College of Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), Daytona Beach, Florida invites applications for multiple faculty positions at the rank of assistant professor or associate professor to start as early as August 2018. We seek candidates with expertise in data analytics and data mining, in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning, and in security and privacy, particularly as practiced in aviation, and other safety-critical domains. Qualified applicants in other areas of electrical engineering and computer science are welcome to apply. Current externally-funded research within the department includes AI for UAV decision making, cyber-physical security, anonymization of UAV sensor data,additive manufacturing of waveguides and antennas, passive radar, underwater communications, and aviation scenario language development.

Successful candidates will bring or develop a strong, externally-funded research program and to join one of the university’s research centers which include CyBASE (Cybersecurity and Assured Systems Engineering), NEAR (Next-Generation Embry-Riddle Advanced Research), ASSURE (FAA Center of Excellence in Unmanned Aircraft Systems), the Air Transportation Center of Excellence for Technical Training and Human Performance (FAA), and the Eagle Flight Research Center. Cross-disciplinary laboratory facilities for new faculty are available in ERAU’s MicaPlex research complex.
The ECSSE department has 19 faculty members and 320 students. It offers the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science; M.S. degrees in cybersecurity engineering, electrical and computer engineering, software engineering, and systems engineering; and B.S. degrees in computer engineering,computer science, electrical engineering, and software engineering. The College of Engineering at Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach has 100 faculty members plus research staff and enrolls nearly 2500 undergraduate and graduate engineering students. In addition to ECSSE programs, the College offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering, and doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering and mechanical engineering.


Applicants must hold an appropriate doctorate, have an outstanding research record, and be committed to teaching excellence, including use of evidence-based pedagogical approaches. Practical experience in aerospace, aviation, defense, software, microelectronics, and related industries is valued. Candidates for appointment at associate rank must have a substantial research portfolio and a history of quality instruction. All candidates must meet U.S. right-to-work requirement and demonstrate excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
