The Department of Software Engineering at Lakehead University invites applications for a 3-year, teaching-focused, limited term appointment in Software Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing August 01, 2017. Preference will be given to those candidates with a demonstrated commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level and with evidence of an effective and established teaching record.

The Department offers an accredited Bachelor of Engineering degree and contributes to graduate programs in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The successful candidate will teach four full-course equivalents per year in Software Engineering and related topics. Typical course assignments may include Object Oriented Graphical User Interface, Digital Signal and Image Processing, Data Management and Information Systems, Database Systems, Software Safety and Security, Web Engineering, and Numerical Methods and Modeling. In addition to teaching, the candidate will be required to participate in the administrative work of the Department and University, in activities such as outreach and recruitment, serving on administrative and student committees, and curriculum development.

The preferred candidates will have:

(i)             An earned Ph.D. in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science from a recognized university, post-doctoral or other relevant experience is an asset;

(ii)           A demonstrated commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and evidence of an effective and established teaching record, and of educational leadership;

(iii)          The potential to make service contributions to the Department.

Registration, or eligibility to register, as a Professional Engineer in Canada is required.
