Job Details

The Fab Operations Manager is responsible for staffing and production planning within our semiconductor laser FAB facility. The individual will manage a multi-disciplined team of operators/technicians who support that effort. This is a coach/player role in which the individual’s first responsibility is to manage FAB operations and staff, but on occasion will be required to assist in process problem and/or production bottleneck resolution.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of FAB operations including planning and management of material flow thru FAB
  • Knowledge of typical FAB equipment including Lithography, PE(CVD), Wet and Dry Etch, Lap/ Polish, Dicing/Cleaving, and Plating
  • Capital equipment budgeting, planning, acquisition, and installation into production line(s).
  • Experience with clean room operation
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and principals
  • Demonstrated experience building and developing teams
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of safety practices common in manufacturing processes to include, high energy, chemicals, compressed gases, etc.


  • Minimum 5 year’s experience in semiconductor FAB engineering and/or operations.
  • Preferred 3 year’s experience in managing FAB engineering team or FAB operations.
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics required, Masters Degree preferred.
  • Ability to work in Clean Room Environment.
  • Hands-on experience in the photonics industry, laser or physics lab is a plus.
  • Experience using FAB planning tools is a plus.
