Description: The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in Atlanta, GA is seeking a mid-level systems engineer with extensive knowledge of EW or Avionics Systems hardware and software requirements allocation and management, HW/SW system and sub-system architecture and integration, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, serial interfaces, HW/SW system debug/troubleshooting, HW and SW testing including laboratory, ground, flight and environmental.

This system engineer will work with and lead small teams of researchers developing and testing integrated EW systems, which connect federated EW and Avionics systems to provide improved pilot situational awareness and threat response.

The working environment includes autonomy with the ability to self-manage and maintain a desirable work/life balance. This position will engage in an exciting, highly interactive environment with a team of HW developers, SW coders and analysts.

This position not only offers an opportunity for mentorship, but the ability to provide mentorship as well. Promotion opportunities will be available.

INTERNAL TITLE: Research Engineer/Scientist I

Integrated EW Systems Engineer

Work with and lead small teams of coders and researchers developing and testing integrated EW systems, which connect federated EW and Avionics systems to provide improved pilot situational awareness and threat response.


  • US Citizenship AND the ability to get a security clearance
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering
  • 5-10 years’ experience in development and test of EW or Avionics systems


  • Electronic Warfare
  • Solid understanding of common interface protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, etc.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, equipment, protocols and software utilities
  • Experience with lab, ground, flight, environmental and anechoic testing of EW, Avionics systems
