The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in Atlanta, GA is seeking a entry-level systems engineer with extensive knowledge of EW and Avionics Systems architecture, function and interface, relevant interfaces, including MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, serial, discrete and analog interfaces, HW/SW system debug/troubleshooting, and HW and SW laboratory testing. 

The EW HITL Systems Engineer will work with and lead small teams of researchers developing HITL test systems that are used to provide high fidelity simulation and stimulation of a real-time EO/IR, RF and Avionics environment for testing Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. These systems are used in Integrated Support Station (ISS) applications and standalone applications to conduct research and analysis for sustaining and optimizing EW systems. The working environment includes autonomy with the ability to self-manage and maintain a desirable work/life balance. This position will engage in an exciting, highly interactive environment with a team of HW developers, SW coders and analysts.This position not only offers an opportunity for mentorship, but the ability to provide mentorship as well. INTERNAL TITLE: Research Engineer/Scientist I


  • US Citizenship AND/ OR the ability to get a security clearance
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering
  • 5-10 years’ experience in development and test of EW or Avionics systems


  • Electronic Warfare
  • Understanding of HITL test equipment requirements, design and usage
  • Solid understanding of common interface protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, etc.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, equipment, protocols and software utilities
  • Experience with lab testing of EW, Avionics systems
