This position is responsible for leading, planning, directing and coordinating manufacturing processes and improvements within the plant that will meet and/or exceed internal and customer expectations. Provide the leadership to maintain the highest standard of efficiency and morale in the areas of maintenance and engineering departments.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Directs continuous improvement activities and communicates monthly to budgeted targets.
  • Plans and formulates engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements
  • Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies and process design.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, Company standards and customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with part development, scheduling and resolving engineering design and production problems.
  • Evaluates and approves engineering changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Prepares interim and completion project reports.
  • Works with internal and external suppliers to ensure smooth and cost effective new product litigation.
  • Ability to work overtime


Supervisory Responsibilities:                                        

  • Oversee the Controls Engineers and Maintenance Supervisor and their direct reports to ensure new and existing work meets both internal and external production goals.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.  


Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.


Mathematical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.


Design Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.


Computer and Electronics Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.


Supervisory and Management Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources


Language Skills:                                               

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. 
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


Mathematical Skills:                                                    

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. 
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.


Reasoning Ability:                                            

  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. 
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. 
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.


Computer Skills:                                               

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Project Management software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.



Education and/or Experience:                                           

  • Bachelor's Degree from four year college or university; and 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in programming Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLC.

  • Experience in programming ABB or Motoman robotics.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

Industrial Mechanical/Electrical Certification preferred.


Physical Demands:

Standing, walking, bending, and be able to lift/move up to 25-pounds on occasion.  Individual may be exposed to loud noises throughout the work day.


Work Environment:

This position will perform work in both a plant and office environment with unrestricted movement. Travel as required.  While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The noise level in the plant is higher and ear protection must be worn.
