Job Details

This occupation performs a wide variety of tasks requiring mechanical and electrical fabrication, assembly and test skills to support the Assembly, Test and Launch Operations (ATLO) of spacecraft. These tasks are broken up into
four main responsibilities:

MECHANICAL OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN - Perform electrical and mechanical assembly/test activities at the sub-system and spacecraft level. Support spacecraft assembly, subsystem test, environmental test, pack & ship operations and launch site processing. Perform work from test procedures, engineering drawings, and manufacturing process plans. Support test operations in areas of cabling and test equipment setup. Perform box installation, harness routing, and final close out activities. Support both test operations and manufacturing operations. Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, and systems. Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions

ENGINEERING AIDE - Provides technical support to GOES mechanical certified test conductors (CTCs) and test engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Helps to assign work to technicians and ensure floor operations are proceeding forward. Assists the CTCs in the gathering of engineering documentation and process specs. Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve problems. Create and work in a team environment while implementing Continuous Process Improvement. Be able to give/take work direction to/from team members

TECHNICIAN MENTOR - Provide mentoring and guidance to all of the GOES technicians. Ensure that all personnel understand and are following the GOES procedures and floor processes. Assign work and schedule work flow

UPDATE MANUFACTURING WORK INSTRUCTIONS - Assist the CTCs with updates of the Manufacturing Work Instructions. Coordinate with GOES engineering and quality engineering in order to ensure that work instructions are accurate and are ready to work by the floor personnel

Basic Qualifications
Five years Satellite Assembly/ATLO experience. A2100 ATLO Experience. Knowledge of Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations, Electrical Troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of general test equipment operations, knowledge of mechanisms. Knowledge of environmental test operations. Knowledge of proper use of standard hand tools. Must be able to read and work from schematics, engineering drawings, wiring lists, sketches, wiring connection lists and other information and documentation. Demonstrated ability to assemble detail parts/ component into an end product following work instructions. Use of test and measurement equipment, (O-scopes, multimeters, scales, torque wrenches). Pass skills certification courses required by the program OTSDA

Desired skills
ATLO technician experience. GOES Spacecraft Experience. Knowledge of ATLO policies and procedures. Proficient in VE-Cams and Automation Framework. Assembly of RF components/ wave guides and cabling. Usage and knowledge of adhesives and bonding materials. Knowledge and experience of crane operations, lifting and handling. Knowledge and experience in spacecraft ground processing life cycle in preparation for launch/mission operations. Expert knowledge of Space System Company Policies and Procedures
