JOB SUMMARY


This position reports to the Vice President of New Products and is responsible for the design, modification and evaluation of electronic parts, components and mixed signal integrated circuitry for electronic equipment. In addition, this position is responsible for embedded software engineering for electronic equipment and other hardware systems.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/FUNCTIONS


The successful candidate will work as integral part of an R&D team, interfacing with cross-functional teams from Sustaining engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing.

  • Design, evaluate, and modify mixed signal circuitry and power supply systems for analytical instrumentation including simulation, modeling, debugging, testing and verification at the component, board and system level
  • Develop embedded software/firmware for analytical instrumentation
  • Assure product quality by designing testing methods and testing finished products and system capabilities
  • Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Provide engineering information across departments for collaboration
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with company policies
  • Complete projects by training and guiding technicians, manufacturing, sales and service
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The position requires occasional lifting of 35 to 50 lbs. instruments.
  • Prolonged sitting at a workstation utilizing a computer, keyboard, mouse, 10-key, desk phone, printer, scanner, and copier.
  • Standing, walking, reaching, talking, typing, calculating, printing, writing.

Requirements

REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with mixed signal circuit design and/or embedded software programming
  •   Minimum 5 years’ experience with PCB layout and fabrication processes
  • Experience with requisite test equipment (e.g. logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers)
  • Experience in programming languages and embedded environments (e.g. C/C++, LabView, Matlab) Altium PCB design software experience a plus
  • Working knowledge in digital design languages (e.g. VHDL, Verilog) and their application to CPLD/FPGAs is a plus
  •   Excellent math and science aptitude
  •   Strong communication skills
