Summary:

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Responsible for system engineering processes to support system analysis, modeling, development, fabrication, assembly, testing, qualification, logistics support development, and planning required for the successful demonstration of a fully operational, production-ready system. 
  • Accountable for customer requirements’ analysis, decomposition, and allocation to hardware and software designers to include design trades and requirements change management.
  • Requirements derivation, requirements traceability, systems integration and test, performance verification, and data analysis to join an agile hardware and software development team designing, building, and integrating active and passive electro-optical sensors. 

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Candidate must be familiar with requirements development and should be able to perform decomposition, traceability, and requirements impacts through requirements analysis and requirements management practices and techniques in accordance with MIL-STD-961.  Candidate should have knowledge of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-882 and MIL-STD-483.  Candidate must have experience and proficiency in the use of the IBM Rational DOORS tool.  In addition, the candidate should be familiar with risk, issue, and opportunity management and mitigation techniques and tools such as risk cubes, waterfall diagrams, and mitigation plans in accordance with DoDI 8510.01. The candidate should have experience in writing test plans and procedures to verify system functional and performance requirements and validate operational Measures of Effectiveness (MOE) and Measures of Performance (MOP) metrics. The candidate must be able to communicate clearly both written and verbally.  Candidate will prepare, participate, and present in technical briefings in accordance with IEEE 15288.2, such as SRR, PDR and CDR, to internal and external customers and is expected to write/support technical and cost proposal(s).

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

Candidate should have greater than 5 years’ (2 years with MS) experience in systems engineering disciplines.  A Master's degree in Systems Engineering is preferred.
