Job Details

Work as part of the Lifeport (Sikorsky Mission Equipment) Manufacturing Engineering team. Act as a liaison between Engineering, operations and manufacturing to translate design concept to manufacturability and completion through the following responsibilities, tasks and activities:Assist in the development of manufacturing sequences of building, processing plans and standard work for optimized and efficient build process.Assist in developing manufacturing / assembly estimates and plans (materials, manpower, tooling, facility, equipment and other KPI’s) as required to bring product from design to completion.Help prepare & review work instructions that will define the manufacturing/assembly process and tooling requirements to the appropriate level of specificity for fabrication of details, assemblies and installations (new and existing products).Assist in Make / Buy analysis at the strategic and operational level (based on labor costs, capacity, lead-time analysis and factory overhead costs).Help define optimal crew-size based on sequence of build. Further develop crew-loads by identifying the critical path to an assembly, laying out work in a way that will minimize the time required to complete the tasks in the critical path within the constraints of time, people, work hours, etc.Provide first line, high level production liaison support to Manufacturing Engineering Manager for related production problem resolution and assists and or coordinates any subsequent next level engagement required from Operations, Project Engineering, Stress, Certification, Materials, Manufacturing or other.Support operations in developing, recording and analysing metrics for estimating, measuring and optimizing process performance.Record and analyse actual hours vs. planned hours to determine efficiencies and opportunities for improvement.Help planning develop and maintain manufacturing balance and progress charts detailing product workflow and sequence of tasks.Assist in reviewing the manufacturing processes and direct labor at key supplier sites with an aim toward developing desired capabilities, the optimization of performance and general cooperative integration.Provide front & back end input relative to design for manufacture & assembly, selectively coordinating with production and suppliers to help achieve optimal design and manufacturability balance.The Lifeport Manufacturing Liaison Engineer will typically perform product family specific tasks but may be engaged from time to time in enterprise level projects. Additionally, the Manufacturing / Operations Engineer will participate in and eventually facilitate facility/manufacturing cell planning and layout, VSM / Kaizen / 3P / TPM or other improvement events, manpower planning and skill set definition.Key Performance Indicators:Component lead-time, cost, direct labor hours performance / efficiency, validity and efficiency of operations plan

Basic Qualifications
*Experience / Qualifications Knowledge of part and assembly designs in Solidworks, Inventor, Catia, AUTOCAD or other computer aided design tools and platforms is required. Knowledge of Operations Engineering and Lean Manufacturing principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Process / Line Balancing, Standard Work, developing and implementing lean manufacturing strategies to improve process flow and reduce cost. Should be familiar with Microsoft Programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Project.The candidate is required to travel occasionally on a limited basis.The candidate should possess good written and oral communication ability, be a self-starter, and should require minimum supervision. Other Qualifications Ability to pass drug and criminal background checkMust be a U.S. Persons as defined by the U.S. Department of State
