The MITRE Corporation is seeking a smart, energetic engineer or scientist with expertise in emerging energy technologies to work in a dynamic environment, which encourages creativity and requires you to keep pace with current and emerging technologies and practices. The work will include the design and evaluation of a wide variety of power and energy systems including energy sources, power conversion, and power management.

Key Functions:
The candidate will work in the public interest to provide technical expertise in solving our sponsors critical power and energy problems.
The candidate will apply their knowledge to evaluate emerging energy technologies and provide recommendations to our sponsors.

Required Qualifications:
BS and 5 years of relevant experience in one of the following areas: Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Energy Systems Engineering.
Deep technical understanding of power and energy technologies and systems. Energy technologies of interest include energy storage systems, energy harvesting systems, hybrid power systems, technologies for energy efficiency, and power management technologies.
Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills.
The ability to conduct research and development of new energy and power technologies in a collaborative environment.
The ability to think critically and be proactive in pursuing research and problem-solving with minimal supervision.
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
MS or PhD in one of the following areas: Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Energy Systems Engineering
Extensive experience and expertise, including recent publications, in the design and evaluation of energy systems.
Basic understanding of a broad range of energy storage, energy conversion, energy harvesting technologies, and power management systems.
