The role focuses on the design and development of high performance ultrasonic data acquisition systems.  The successful candidate will have a good relevant degree, and undertake all aspects of the development process from specification, documentation, design implementation (analogue & digital), simulation, testing, and PCB layout.

The role will include:

  • New product design and existing product improvement and evolution
  • Hardware - analogue, power electronics and digital circuits
  • Maintenance of documentation
  • External EMC and LVD product testing and certification, including CE marking.
  • Design for manufacturing
  • Value engineering and dealing with component obsolescence

Requirements

Reporting directly to the Design & Development Manager we expect your key skills/experience to be:

  • High speed digital design: FPGA, VHDL, Schematic capture,JESD204B.
  • DSP & SoC development: ARM-based SoC.
  • High frequency, ultra-low noise wideband analogue circuitry and low level signals focusing on improving s/n ratio.
  • Development of switch mode power supplies, high efficiency DC-DC convertors.
  • PCB layout, signal integrity, strong knowledge of design for manufacture and production issues.

The successful candidate is likely to be educated to degree level, and demonstrate the following:

  • A deep understanding of the fundamentals of electronics; transistors and op-amps
  • Enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and immaculate attention to detail with a methodical approach
  • Ability to take a project from concept right through to production with a 'can do' attitude and minimal supervision
  • Capability to work to a structured product design and development process
  • Experience of low volume design for manufacture
  • Good written English skills are required
