Contribute to the success of Space Protection programs by supporting multiple program efforts within the line of business. Position will guide Parts, Materials & Processes (PMP) selection from design creation to final delivery, focusing in Electronic Subassemblies and applications such as electronic boxes. Space Protection Programs requires a materials and processes engineer to assure effective in-house designs, help manage materials and processes for subcontracts, support issues on the manufacturing floor and lead failure analysis investigations to present non-conformances to the customer.

Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments related to electrical assembly processes and testing. Assignments will include maintenance of M&P and Electrical parts data in relevant databases and technical evaluation of manufacturing issues and concerns. Candidate will participate in the selection, qualification, and testing of materials and processes. Will also prepare specifications, develop and/or select appropriate processes, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports and work with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement in resolving material or process issues. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables

Basic Qualifications
Background in Physics, Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Familiar with Engineering design (drawing reviews, schematic reviews, etc.). Demonstrated technical leadership. Experience presenting to Customers. Knowledge of Materials and Processes for development, design, application and production. Expertise in bonding, coatings, failure analysis, manufacturing operations, printed wiring boards (PWB/PCB), black boxes, soldering, cabling, ESD protection and/or complex electronics (ASICs, hybrids, FPGAs) are required

Desired skills
Electronic subassemblies experience is highly desired. Disposition of nonconforming parts, materials and processes, Materials Review Board Certification and SAP experience is highly desired. Failure analysis experience desired. Experience partnering with subcontractors and suppliers is desired. Experience providing floor support to manufacturing is desired
Ability to multi-task, handle shifting priorities and timeline pressure to meet project deadlines
